MATCH REPORT | Valencia CF lose to Real Madrid (1-2)

The team suffer a late turnaround at Mestalla

Valencia CF lost 1-2 to Real Madrid in a rescheduled Matchday 12 LALIGA EA Sports played game at Mestalla, conceding twice late on after a first half opener from Hugo Duro.

The game was the first in charge for new coach Carlos Corberán, and saw an intense Valencia CF from the start, with personality, courage, daring and clear ideas. In an electric beginning to the first half, the early protagonists were the goalkeepers for both teams. First Dimitrievski made a great save from Valverde and then Courtois stopped a point-blank shot from Hugo Duro.

Valencia CF held strong at the back, linked passes together quickly and went forward. Dmitri Foulquier on the right wing reached the byline and went through on Courtois, trying to finish off a quick counterattack that the stopper kept out with his legs.

He would appear again on the right a few minutes before the half hour to generate danger, in an action that would be decisive. Javi Guerra met the cutback and his shot was parried by Courtois, leaving the ball free in the six-yard box for Hugo Duro to push into the back of the net.

Real Madrid's Valverde tried again with a long shot and Dimitrievski saved from Vini Jr, sending the match to the break with Valencia CF in front.

In the 54th minute, the referee awarded a penalty that could have brought Real Madrid an equaliser, after Mbappé fell in the area in a fight for the ball. Jude Bellingham's spot kick, however, hit the post.

Five minutes later, Mbappé had a goal disallowed for offside, then a shot from Rodrygo went over the crossbar.

With half an hour left, Valencia CF brought on Sergi Tenés for Diego López and Hugo Guillamón for Javi Guerra, seeking to regain control of the ball in a decisive stretch of the match.

In the 78th minute, Real Madrid were reduced to ten men after Vini Jr was sent off for hitting Dimitrievski in the neck.

Unfortunately, Luka Modric, in the 84th minute, and Bellingham, in the 96th minute, turned the score around late on, preventing Valencia CF from winning on a night in which, despite the final result, the team showed solid arguments that they can begin to build a new dynamic under the orders of the new coach, .
