Valencia CF travelled up north to the Basque Country to visit Real Sociedad on Saturday, 28th of September, at the Reale Arena for a 6:30 pm kick-off (CET) on Matchday 8 of LaLiga EA Sports.
Valencia CF had a slow start to the game, and shortly after, Takefusa Kubo made it 1-0 to Real Sociedad only seven minutes into the first half at the Reale Arena. Valencia CF had some defending to do after Real Sociedad’s early opener.
Valencia CF struggled to make inroads going forward, despite enjoying spells of possession over the quarter-hour mark, as the home side continued to dictate the tempo and play of the game at the Reale Arena.
The first Valencia CF chance fell to Christhian Mosquera, who steered the ball goalwards following a corner kick, but Remiro comfortably claimed the ball.
Valencia CF continued to defend, with chances in the final third few and far between. Rubén Baraja made an early substitution, with Jesús Vázquez making way for Thierry Correia, and moments later, Valencia CF survived another scare with Aguerd hitting the crossbar for Real Sociedad.
Valencia CF trailed Real Sociedad at half-time, 1-0.
The same script followed in the second half, with the home side dominating the tempo and Valencia CF.
Valencia CF’s first effort on target fell to Pepelu, who forced Álex Remiro into a fine stop at full stretch. Valencia CF grew into the game with further forays forward in the early goings of the second half.
Rubén Baraja made an attacking double substitution, with Javi Guerra and Diego López making way for Dani Gómez and S.C. Tenés. After the substitution, César Tárrega could not quite steer the ball on target.
Alas, late on, Valencia CF who were far too exposed at the back, saw Orri Óskarsson make it 2-0 to Real Sociedad after pouncing on a Valencia CF defensive let-off. Orri Óskarsson grabbed a brace and completed the scoreline in the dying embers of the game as Valencia CF fell to a chastening 3-0 away defeat to Real Sociedad.
Valencia CF will visit CD Leganés on Friday, October 4th, at 9:00 pm at the Estadio Municipal Butarque on Matchday 9 of LaLiga EA Sports.
