Yunus Musah: “We hope to grow and know that Sunday's game against Osasuna will be very difficult”
One of last season's breakout stars in LaLiga, Yunus Musah is ready to get his 2021/22 campaign underway in earnest in the coming games. After a cameo appearance against Alavés on Matchday 3, the US international is hungry for more, and rapidly increasing his fitness.
Recovering from injury
I feel much better. I'm still struggling a bit to get onto the pace, but I feel much better. I used the international break to train here, to get up to speed and to improve.
We found out that the injury wasn't very serious, and I decided to return. I have the trust of the coach and everybody else, so there's no need to worry. I was calm, working hard to come back. I used the time to improve other things as well, in the gym and analysing games.
His substitute appearance against Alavés
I felt good against Alavés. The coach said it would be good for getting up to speed with the team. It was a really good moment. I'd never played in front of the fans at Mestalla before.
I was on the bench, and I heard Mestalla singing. It was really nice. I got onto the pitch at the end, with people talking about me. I think that this support is going to help us a lot this year.

The start to the season
We've had good games, but we're only three games into the season. There's a long way to go. We hope to grow and know that Sunday's game will be very difficult.
Working with Bordalás
The coach is demanding so that we improve. That's all he wants. He wants me to grow as a player and gives me a lot of advice, because he has a lot of experience. We have to make the most of that. If I learn, then apply it on the pitch, then I'm sure to improve.

His position on the pitch and shirt number
I'm a central midfielder, but last season I played on the wing. You have to play wherever you're needed, and it's good to improve in many positions. I can play in a lot of different ones. With England and with the United States, I've played in the middle. I really like playing there. But if I have to play somewhere else, then it's no problem.
There was No.4 and No.29 available. As you have No.4, No.8 and No.10 in England for the central positions, I said that I'd take No.4.
His aims for 2021/22
This season, I just want to keep on improving -much more than last season. I want to grow as a player. That's what's important: Keeping on growing.
We face every game in the same way, with the same mentality that every team will be hard to beat.
