VCF Mestalla face this week the fourth and final matchday of the group stage of the Premier League International Cup in the match against Blackburn Rovers at the Lancashire FA, The County Ground, on Wednesday 11 January at 8 pm (BST).
The team coached by Miguel Angel Angulo travel to the United Kingdom this Tuesday looking to book their place in the quarter-finals in this international U21 competition that brings together 12 Premier League teams with 12 other clubs from other countries such as Germany, Portugal, Spain, Netherlands or Scotland in which VCF Mestalla are unbeaten.
VCF Mestalla come into the game unbeaten and unbeaten in Group A with two wins so far against Leicester City (0-2) and Wolverhampto FC (0-1) and a draw against Fulham FC (0-0) and having drawn 0-0 at SCR Peña Deportiva last weekend in Group III of Segunda RFEF and having extended their unbeaten run to 10 matches.
Blackburn Rovers come into the game with a chance of qualifying for the last four, having beaten Wolsburg 4-3 and drawn 1-1 with Porto in their two matches so far.
Format
The 24 participating clubs (Liverpool FC, Manchester United, Arsenal FC, FC Porto, VLF Wolsburg, Paris Saint Germain or PSV Eindhoven among others) are divided into 3 groups of eight teams to complete a first phase with matches against Premier League teams. The top two in each group and the two best third-placed teams qualify for the knockout stages.
Three away games in 10 days
The match against Blackburn will be the first of three away games in just 10 days for the b team, who face SD Formentera on Sunday 11 January to close the first round of the season and visit CE Manresa on 22 January to open the second round of the Segunda RFEF Group III competition.
