VCF Mestalla to kick off Premier League International Cup on August 22nd
VCF Mestalla will play again this season 23-24 in the Premier League International Cup, an international U21 competition organised by the Premier League and in which 12 teams from England and other 12 teams from countries such as Spain, Germany, France, Netherlands, Czech Republic, Wales, Croatia or Portugal will feature.
Group B together with Chelsea FC, Southampton FC, Brighton & Hove Albion and West Ham United.
Valencia CF are in Group B and will face Chelsea FC, Southampton FC, Brighton and Hove Albion and West Ham United, against whom they will open the competition on 22 August.
Group B also includes Glasgow Celtic, GNK Dinamo Zagreb and Olympique Lyon, who they will not face in the group stage.
Competition system
The 24 participating teams are divided into 3 groups of 8 teams, and in each group, there are 4 teams from the Premier League and 4 teams from other countries that in this initial phase only face teams from the Premier League.
The first and second-placed teams from each group plus the two best third-placed teams will qualify for the Quarter-Finals which, like all knockout rounds, will be played as a single match.
Semi-finalist in 2022
The team coached by Miguel Angel Angulo will try to show again the great competitive level that last season led them to reach the semi-finals of this competition in which they lost on penalties to Crystal Palace FC after having remained unbeaten in the 6 matches played against Fulham FC, Leicester FC, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Blackburn Rovers, Brighton and Hove Albiol and Crystal Palace FC.
