VCF Mestalla exit Premier League International Cup on penalties
VCF Mestalla were knocked out in the semifinals of the Premier League International Cup in a penalty shootout against Crystal Palace, having drawn 1-1 in normal time and extra time. The Valencia CF team end their participation in the competition undefeated.
The first goal would come from a low cross from the home team, but VCF Mestalla came close to equalising with a typical move by Rodrigo Rodrigues, ending with a shot from outside the area.
A solo move by Zeidane Inoussa saw him get away from 3 opposition players, but his shot went wide of the mark. A few minutes later, VCF Mestalla got their goal through Gozálbez, who took advantage of a rebound in the box to level the game and take it into extra time.
The additional half hour began with a great action by Gozálbez and a strike towards the top corner, saved by Goodman. VCF Mestalla steadily approached the opposition goal, although they could not establish any clear chances.
The game went to penalties, with Crystal Palace converting five of their spot kicks to VCF Mestalla's 3, eliminating the team from the youth tournament.
