Valencia CF to meet Villarreal in Europa League quarter finals
Valencia CF will take on Villarreal CF in an all-Spanish UEFA Europa League quarter final, in games that will take place at the Estadio de la Cerámica on April 11th and Mestalla on April 18th.
The pairing was made in Nyon on Friday, where potential semi final opponents were also decided. Should VCF get past the Yellow Submarine, they will play the winners of the tie between Napoli and Arsenal.
Villarreal CF beat Sporting CP in the Round of 32 and Zenit St. Petersburg in the Round of 16, and have been semifinalists in the competition on three occasions.
This will be the second regional derby between the two teams in the competition, as they previously met in the 2004 edition of the UEFA Cup. A goalless draw in Villarreal and a 1-0 win at Mestalla thanks to a Mista goal took Valencia CF into the final, where they beat Olympique Marseille 2-0.
The other side of the draw sees SL Benfica play Eintracht Frankfurt and Slavia Prague meet Chelsea FC.
