Valencia CF are taking care of the playing surface at Mestalla with ecological products as part of their collaboration with Idai Nature, a part of the Rovensa group that has been named as the most sustainable in the continent by the European Commission.
The ecologically certified treatments to nurture the grass come from products based on vegetable extracts and minerals, and are highly effective in combating plague and possible diseases in the turf. Thus, the pitch boasts grass of the highest quality and, above all, safety for players and staff.
These innovative biocontrol solutions are managed by Idai Nature. Carlos Ledó, CEO and founder of the company, emphasises that "it is an honour to form part of this pioneering initiative at LaLiga stadia, showing that it is possible to maintain a pitch to the highest of demands using natural products. These products are without residues and care for the environment, and have been tested in our experimental areas for use in nurturing grass."
The move also puts Valencia CF one step ahead of the new European legislation for the use of phytosanitary products in green areas open to the public.
