Valencia CF hold heartfelt minute's silence in memory of Alvin Yeo and Roberto Gil
Valencia CF held a respectful and heartlfelt minute's silence in memory of Alvin Yeo and Roberto Gil in the moments leading up to the Trofeu Taronja against Atalanta BC.
Roberto Gil is a true Valencia CF legend. A club man who came up through the Valencia CF youth system and made his debut with the first team in 1959. He soon became captain and led the team to win trophies (2 Fairs Cups and 1 Copa del Rey).
He hung up his boots in 1971, after eleven seasons and more than 300 official matches. Subsequently, he was also appointed as a head coach of Valencia CF on two different stints, and in the 1990s he was appointed director of football.
Alvin Yeo was a member of the Board of Directors of Valencia CF. He studied at King's College London, University of London, and graduated with LLB honours in 1986. He was admitted to the English Bar (Gray's Inn) in 1987 and to the Singapore Bar a year later. Mr Alvin Yeo was the Senior Partner Chairman of WongPartnership, LLP.
He was the youngest lawyer to become a senior counsel of the Singapore Courts at the age of 37 in 2000. Mr Yeo was also a member of the International Arbitration Centre Tribunal and the Monetary Authority of Singapore's Appeals Advisory Council.
The late VCF board member was also an elected Member of the Singapore Parliament from 2006 to 2015. He is also a member of various Boards Directors for several public companies in Singapore.
