Valencia CF get closer to fans and peñistas during the pandemic
Valencia CF, through the club’s ambassadors and legends, have begun to hold virtual meetings with fans and supporters group members from around the world, in order to build a more direct relationship during the difficult times of a pandemic This is the first of a series of initiatives through which Valencia CF aims to bring the club closer to fans, find out their opinion
This is the first of a series of initiatives through which Valencia CF aims to bring the club closer to fans, find out their opinions, and their health situation, as well as exchange ideas to make them feel even more involved, at a time in which attending Mestalla is not possible due to restrictions.
Miguel Bossio and Ricardo Arias participated in this virtual face-to-face meeting with the fans, debating the current situation of the team and sharing their own anecdotes. Arias recalled how he once jumped from the balcony of one of the supporters present in the Virtual Call to access the balcony of his neighbour – fellow Valencia CF legend Darío Felman.
Valencia CF, in addition to giving a fun moment to fans, are also using these virtual meetings to listen to their concerns, share impressions on a possible return to the stadiums and discuss management aspects. The club, through the Fan Area (Area Aficion), are collecting proposals and suggestions from Valencianistas, with the aim of improving their experience.
“As a Valencia CF fan, I have the obligation to be by the club's side. I appreciate that the club are close to the fans. The most direct way to talk to the fans is to speak to the supporters groups and think about them. I consider it very positive.” "What I want most is to go back to Mestalla, but sadly we can't for now."
“I thank them for this type of initiatives, because if not then this year we wouldn’t have contact with the club, as we can’t access Mestalla. I was fortunate enough to have Arias contact me during the lockdown to see how I was doing, and I appreciate that the club take advantage of technology to listen to us.”
“This type of meeting seems perfect to me, since the pandemic prevents us from having meetings or going to Mestalla. We would like Valencia CF to help us in organising trips.”
“We are concerned about the pandemic and the situation the team are in. Division does not help anyone: neither the players, the team, us, nor the club. We are concerned about the team, and with them getting out of this. We want to go back to Mestalla to cheer on the team.”
“For us, living 60 kilometres from the capital, the best thing is the support given with buses, because you arrive and go directly to the stadium. It is very difficult to park your car around Mestalla.”
“Playing at an empty Mestalla has to be a very big blow for the players. We would like to be there. What are games like that?”
“If the stadiums were to be opened again tomorrow, my suggestion would be to do it by a lottery, with a third of the total capacity of Mestalla allowed in, and the stadium opening the doors in advance to avoid crowds. I'm more afraid of entering and leaving than I am during the game. I think there should be an orderly and staggered exit, by section.”
