Valencia CF donate sports equipment to European Union Training Mission in Somalia
Former player and current club ambassador Miguel Tendillo represented Valencia CF in the official donation of sports equipment to Somalia, through the Spanish military mission.
The event was held at the Valencia region's Defence Delegation, with Lieutenant General Fernando Garcia-Vaquero (the highest military authority in the region), and the regional Defence Delegate, Colonel Rafael Morenza accepting the donation on behalf of the mission.
The European Union's military mission in Somalia, EUTM-S (European Union Training Mission in Somalia), is carrying out a campaign to promote sport among children and young people, as part of complementary stabilisation actions in the country. Coinciding with the reopening of the Mogadishu national football stadium in July, countries that contribute troops to the mission were asked to contact their most prestigious clubs to request donations of sporting equipment. Valencia CF were one such club.
Representatives of the FFCV, Elche CF, Levante UD, Villarreal CF, CD Castellón and Hércules CF also participated in the handover of the donations.
