Unofficial first VCF goal for Gómez in Sion friendly
The striker got off the mark 12 minutes into the preseason contest
Maxi Gómez needed just 12 minutes in the game against Sion to score his unofficial first goal for Valencia CF, as he played his opening minutes since signing for the club just over a week ago. The Uruguayan featured in the first half of the friendly contest and got the chance to partner Rodrigo in the attack.
The striker latched onto the end of a Fran Villalba cross to convert inside the six yard box with his right foot, demonstrating his poacher's instinct in front of goal.
Marcelino took off the summer signing at halftime as part of wholesale changes that left only Mouctar Diakhaby on the pitch from the starting lineup.
Gómez had previously enjoyed a 22 minute cameo in the friendly against AS Monaco, and is likely to be given further playing time in the meeting with Sporting Clube de Portugal on Sunday, July 28th.
