The Valencia CF coach talks after the 2-2 result against Deportivo Alavés
The 20 finalists for the 2019 Golden Boy award, which recognises the best player in the world under the age of 21, were named this Tuesday, with two Valencia CF stars featuring on the list.
Ferran Torres and Kang In are the two nominated, as VCF become the only team to have more than a single representative. The pair are both products of the club's academy system and have become first team squad members.
Torres and FC Barcelona's recently naturalised Ansu Fati are the only Spaniards in the running for the prize, whilst Kang In is the sole Asian nominee.
Rivals for the award are: Joao Félix (Atletico Madrid), Vinicius Jr. y Rodrygo (Real Madrid), Ansu Fati (FC Barcelona), Andrij Lunin (Real Valladolid), De Ligt (Juventus), Alphonso Davies (Bayern), Donnarumma (AC Milan), Phil Foden (Manchester City), Guendouzi (Arsenal FC), Erling Haland (RB Salzburg), Havertz (Bayer Leverkusen), Dejan Loveljic (Eintracht Frankfurt), Moise Kean (Everton), Mallen (PSV Eindhoven), Mason Mount (Chelsea), Jadon Sancho (Borussia Dortmund) and Nico Zaniolo (AS Roma).
The award, devised by Italian newspaper Tuttosport and previously won by the likes of Leo Messi and Kylian Mbappe, will be decided on December 16th.
