Diego López: "I'm really happy with what we Valencia CF players are contributing to the Spanish national team"
The Valencia CF forward is through to the U21 EURO quarter-finals
Thierry Correia enjoyed a fruitful 90 minutes in the game against Real Sociedad, completing a full game and helping the team with a solid defensive display.
The Portuguese fullback spoke with VCF Media on Thursday, and expressed his pleasure at having been able to contribute to the Matchday 4 win.
“I felt good. The coach and my teammates transmitted a lot of confidence to me. I went onto the pitch ready to help the team,” he explained.
“You have to be consistent, just like the coach has said. We are Valencia CF and we have to always play to win.”
Javi Gracia has used Correia in two of the four games played in LaLiga to date, and the player is enjoying working under him.
“He's a very good coach and transmits a lot of desire to the team. We always want the three points, whoever the opposition are. That's why we keep working. I think that the team have confidence, but we have to show this in our games. We work hard during the week for this reason, and when we achieve a win we are very happy.”
One of the young players in a youthful Valencia CF side, Correia believes a low average age should have no negative effect on the squad, saying that “We have to show that, despite our age, we have quality and we can prove it on the pitch. We always want to win, and we have to show -just like we did against Real Sociedad- that we have a lot of confidence and a will to win.”
