Meet some of the Valencia CF players who have competed in the U-21 European Championship with Spain
Juan Mata and César Tárrega, the most recent scorers in this prestigious international tournament
One of the players who perfectly embodies the Valencia CF spirit is Carlos Soler, who was decisive this past Sunday against Getafe CF with a complete performance, capped by his 99th minute penalty conversion. The midfielder kept cool under pressure to slot home the spot kick.
Rubén Mora, who coached Soler during some of his time at the VCF Academy, spoke to VCF MEDIA Radio this week to highlight the progress of a player who is by now an established member of the starting XI.
"Stepping up and saying 'I'm going to take this, and I'm going to score' is a big statement, just in case anyone had any doubts about whether Soler has that capacity for leadership," said Mora.
“He was like that as a kid. I always tell an anecdote about a tournament in which the final was against Villarreal CF, who also had great players. Carlos did not have a great tournament, but the final came around and he scored four goals for us to win 4-1. In difficult moments, Carlos Soler has that leadership quality and that ability.”
With the departure of several midfielders and his emergence as one of the team's cornerstones, Soler is renowned for his personality, maturity and commitment. As Mora says "He has everything required to be a player whom people look up to, and an important member of the team."
