Mestalla will host the ‘La Nit de València’ charity event on June 2nd, in which Valencia CF and the VCF Foundation will reinforce their social commitment with a large charity dinner to raise funds and increase their contribution to Valencian society through social projects.
The gala will be broadcast in a television show format, with an awards ceremony will be held to reward examples of solidarity and club values. There will be performances by renowned Spanish musical groups, and the public can participate by making a donation or bidding for items in a charity auction.
Teo Swee Wei, director-general of the VCF Foundation, explains the philosophy behind the event.
What is the purpose behind Valencia CF and the VCF Foundation organising La Nit de València?
The club's social commitment has been inherent in its history since its foundation in 1919. That is why we are organizing a charity dinner to raise more funds and expand the projects we run. Among our projects, we have, for example, Escoles Cor Blanquinegre, where we help important groups in Valencian society such as children at risk of social exclusion and inmates in prisons in the Valencia region. We use football as a tool to encourage good behaviour in children and inmates, instilling universal values so that they are more prepared for the future. We also have VCF Inclusivo, where we have 55 players with intellectual disabilities. One of the three teams now participates in LaLiga Genuine, which is a beautiful project run by the LaLiga Foundation. In addition, we collaborate with other Valencian NGOs such as FIVAN, Incliva, FEDER, Cruz Roja, the Banco de Alimentos food bank, and many more. All these projects need resources, which is why we have organised a charity dinner to raise more funds so that the club and Valencian society can do even more for the community.
What will La Nit de València consist of?
It is going to be a very big event for the club, and especially for Valencian society, where we are going to have performances by musical artists, we are going to hold auctions with items from players, club products and many more things that are currently being kept a surprise. We will also be opening a ‘Fila Cero’ initiative for fans and supporters to make donations at this event. We are also going to give awards because the night is also to recognise the important social participants in Valencian society. We will reward Commitment, Courage, Teamwork, Equality, Inclusivity, and much more. The objective of the awards is to recognise the effort that entities and individuals have made for the good of Valencian society and to reinforce the social commitment of the club and the VCF Foundation.
How can we collaborate with La Nit de València?
You can collaborate through the companies and entities that are collaborators with the VCF Foundation. Others can participate in Fila Cero and make donations to the social causes that we are working with through the different entities. I also invite fans to bid on interesting items in the auction. This will be the first edition of the event at Mestalla, and I hope it will be the first of many. We are going to reinforce the social commitment of the club, enjoy a great night with the fans, and it will be an unforgettable night in the history of the club -and I hope also in the history of the city of Valencia.
