The coach previews the game against Real Betis
Daniel Portela, captain of CD Arenteiro, led his side in their Copa del Rey game against Valencia CF. Whilst the lower league side were eliminated from the competition, the game was a chance for the Arenteiro players to experience playing against stars from the elite. However, when it came to swapping shirts after the final whistle, other commitments impeded the skipper from getting his hands on a souvenir.
That was rectified this Christmas, as Valencia CF's Carlos Soler sent Portela a signed shirt, as well as a video message wishing him and his teammates good luck for the rest of the 2021/22 season.
The game in O Carballiño was a memorable one for all those involved. Portela looked back on the occasion upon receiving his signed shirt.
"It was a very special game for us, the coaching staff, for the club and for the town of O Carballiño. Playing a Copa del Rey game at home, with our fans there, against a team as historic as Valencia CF, was spectacular."
