Two of Valencia CF’s young talents, Carlos Soler and Manu Vallejo, will return from Italy with some new silverware for their collection this summer, having won the 2019 Under-21s European Championships with Spain. The duo were part of the squad that beat Germany in the final this past Sunday, in a 2-1 victory for ‘La Rojita.’
Coach Luis de la Fuente brought Soler on 54 minutes into the game, putting him on the right side of the midfield in a 4-3-3 formation. The VCF first team regular continually looked to add to the scoring, and in the 76th minute one of his efforts was cleared for a corner by Henrichs. Four minutes later, his left footed shot from outside the box slammed against the crossbar.
Soler offered up patience and poise in possession, and helped Spain to settle and remain organised ahead of the final whistle.
Vallejo was an unused substitute in the final, but had featured in previous games in the competition
