As part of February 15, World Childhood Cancer Day
The VCF Foundation Heritage Departament has in its possession a painting by Eduardo Cubells (Barrio de Algirós, Valencia; 1900-1964), Valencia FC's first international, in action in 1925 in his debut for Spain against Portugal. The artwork was restored by the Heritage Restoration Institute of the Universidad Politécnica de València in 2017.
The oil painting shows Cubells posing in the Spain kit. Its artist was Martín Vidal Corella (Valencia; 1895-1976), a renowned painter and photographer who was a protege of Benlliure.
Eduardo Cubells, who achieved the first goal scored by Valencia CF at the Campo de Algirós ground, and who was known to his contemporaries as 'Cucala,' had many roles at the club: Player (1919-1928), captain, technical advisor, coaching staff member, coach and vice president.
