Baraja: "We want to dedicate the victory to the victims and those affected by the 'DANA'"
The coach previews the game against Real Betis
Valencia CF midfielder Pepelu talked to the media about the team's next match against Cádiz CF, and the start of the 2023/24 season.
Being an important part of the team
From Day 1, I felt the confidence in me from the entire coaching staff and my teammates, and that makes it easy on the pitch. I always try to help and give my best.
The Spain national team
I see a national team callup as being far off. It is the best and there are many players in Spain and many top level midfielders who have been doing well for their country for a long time. I focus on giving my all, working well consistently and playing well. I'll be happy if that helps me to get the opportunity, but I'm focused on my everyday work.
Adapting to Valencia CF
When you arrive in a new place you try to adapt. I can see the daily demands that mean that, despite being young, being here takes you to the highest level. That is what I was looking for: Playing in the Primera Division and performing at my best level.
Baraja
The coaching staff knew me from previous years and they saw that I wanted to help. It was all very fast, with natural conversations, and I am ready to help in any facet.
The team
I'm very happy. When you arrive at a new place you don't know how the adaptation will go. I was surprised to see the bond between young players and veterans. It's a very good atmosphere that makes you stick to the objective.
The international break
The last few weeks had been demanding. This week, despite the international games, we've had time to clear our heads, recovery physically and prepare for the game as best as possible.
Work in the gym
The fitness side is going very well, I feel very good and that makes me able to play. The other day I worked in the gym to reduce my workload, because we have an intense time coming up
Cadiz CF
They are doing well, they are doing everything to ensure their survival. We want a return to winning ways at home We have been training very well and we are determined to win.
Positions
Throughout my career I have been able to adapt to those two positions. I feel comfortable in both and the most important thing is to help the team.
Mestalla
It is very important and it always has to be so. We have felt the spirit of the fans from the beginning and it is an honour.
The Copa del Rey
It is a competition that generates excitement. Valencia CF have won it before and we will go for it again. It will be useful for people in the reserve team or those who are getting fewer minutes. We are going to give it our all and I hope it is a competition in which we can go far.
LaLiga as a priority
That question was answered by the president and the coaching staff. Inside the dressing room we focus on day-to-day life and competing in each game. We look at what can happen in each game and try to win it so that the fans can be proud of us, as they are very important to us.
His form
I hope I haven't shown the coach my best version yet because I always hope to improve every day. I am in a very good moment of form and the coaching staff are trying to improve each player, which is very important. I try to show on the field what he transmits to me during trainingz and that is being demonstrated in games. Playing as much as possible makes me happy.
His playing style
I have played several types of games and I feel comfortable in any role. Each team has to adapt to its own style and the opposition's style. We are working to try, using our strengths, to do as much damage as possible to Cádiz.
