Carlos Corberán begins his tenure as Valencia CF Head Coach
The new Valencia CF coach has already started work at the Ciutat Esportiva de Paterna
A self-critical approach was taken by Gabriel Paulista to Valencia CF's defeat to Getafe CF, when talking to Spanish TV channel Movistar+ LaLiga after the game.
"It all went badly. Honestly, the elimination from the Copa del Rey by Granada CF was very tough, and this was a game for us to bounce back and win. Everything went badly, in defence and attack. We have a week to recover and train hard, so that we can win the next game. Up against Atletico Madrid, at home, we have to win," he said pitchside.
"To do that, we need to fight. We always need to have respect for the opposition, but be stronger and more solid in every aspect of the game."
Asked to give his explanation for the defeat, Paulista refused to make excuses.
"We do have important players out, but we can't use that as an excuse. With the players we have, we need to show why we are here and be a little stronger: Everyone, from the goalkeeper through to Maxi (Gómez, the striker). We need to be more solid in every way. Now we will focus on the next game."
"We know that we are very strong at home, but if we play like this then we will lose again. It was a very ugly game, and all that remains is to congratulate Getafe CF."
