Valencia CF would like to publicly express our full support for our captain, José Luis Gayà, and express our deep indignation at the disproportionate and unfair four-game ban imposed on him for his statements after the match against CA Osasuna on Matchday 32 of the 2021/22 LaLiga season.
After an appeal was not addressed and the sanction upheld by the Competition Committee, Valencia CF filed a new appeal before the CAS (Administrative Court of Sport) arguing, among other things, comparisons with other similar -or more serious- statements made in other cases that had either not been sanctioned or subsequently overturned.
Just days before playing our first LaLiga match against Girona FC, the club received a response to the appeal filed on June 30th, after insisting to the CAS for several weeks and being forced to request the injunction. The CAS, unfortunately, dismissed the appeal and ratified this suspension for four LaLiga games.
Gayà's statements are public, like those of other footballers and coaches. Valencia CF once again reiterate our complete support for our captain and are saddened by this unfair suspension.
