Mestalla brimming with emotions running high
Relive the emotional events that took place in the run-up to Valencia CF-Real Betis to pay tribute to the victims and those affected by the tragic flash floods
Bryan Gil will wear the No.21 shirt during his loan spell at Valencia CF, adopting one of the club's most iconic numbers. It is a shirt that has been donned by several illustrious players in recent years, such as Pablo Aimar and David Silva.
Like Gil, Aimar arrived at Valencia CF in the winter transfer window, back in 2001. The Argentine played more than 200 games for the club, winning two LaLiga titles, a Spanish Supercopa, the UEFA Cup and a European Supercup.
David Silva took over the number, establishing himself as a top flight star. His similarity to Gil comes in the fact that he also played on loan at SD Eibar. The VCF Academy product would go on to win the Copa del Rey with Valencia CF, as well as the European Championships and a World Cup with the Spanish national team when at the club.
“I know that here at Valencia CF it is a historic number and I will wear it with great pride and enthusiasm. Wearing it means pressure and motivation. It is an iconic number,” commented Gil to VCF MEDIA.
