The Valencia CF coach talks after the 2-2 result against Deportivo Alavés
Valencia CF's social commitment campaign ‘AMUNTWorld’ has reached a collaboration agreement with the Banco de Acción Solidaria charity in the city to use Mestalla as a destribution centre for food, providing goods for hundreds of families.
With the support of the VCF Foundation and the Agrupació de Penyes, the club will put the initiative in place from next week, to run over the coming months. The Banco de Acción Solidaria will organise 2-3 days on a fortnightly basis, in which they will hand out basic foodstuffs to those in need.
Donations have come from World Central Kitchen -chef José Andrés' charity, as part of their ‘Chefs for Spain’ plan, and Valencian restaurants will continue to cook dishes for distribution at Mestalla. CaixaBank and their foundation have increased their habitual support for foodbanks and will provide volunteers for distribution, whilst the Agurpació de Penyes headquarters will be the logistics centre for the drive.
Valencia CF president Anil Murthy said of the initiative: "As an institution that is a point of reference, the club have to do their bit, especially in these circumstances, to make the society in which we live more aware and help those in need. I am confident that this charitable gesture to hold this initiative at Mestalla will make things a little easier for many Valencian families who are suffering at this time. It is a move that fits into the work that we do in person through the VCF Foundation, VCF Footballers Association, Agrupació de Penyes and Valencia CF.”
