Match Report: VCFF fall to narrow loss away at UDG Tenerife (2-1)

VCFF came out of the blocks well-organised and well –positioned with the first VCFF came over the 10-minute mark in the manner of the Argentinian Florencia Bonsegundo who blasted it over the bar following a great solo move while Koko was the most tenacious player for the hosts.
Jansen gave VCFF the lead on 20 minutes beating Reis on a one on one situation after latching onto a delightful Marta Carro backheel pass slotting it past Reis. However VCCF’s lead did not last long as three minutes later, Pleuer brought UDG Tenerife back on level terms halfway through the first half.
The host had a moment of respite following their equaliser and on 34 minutes Maria José gave the hosts the lead after a dangerous throw-in.
Cristina Cubedo came close to equalising on 42 minutes but the effort went narrowly off target. The half-time whistle was blown and VCFF trailed 2-1 at the break.
José Bargues’side came out in the second half looking to make it two apiece knowing that the hosts would try to exploit the gaps on the counter-attack and create danger from set-pieces as they tried to settle into the second half on the Canary Islands.
José Bargues changed personnel by brining on Sandra and Asun and withdrawing Salmi, C. Bautista and Bonsegundo respectively. Reis denied VCFF the equaliser twice first with a goalline stop and then keeping out a Marta Carro free-kick shot.
VCFF dominated in the final quarter of an hour. VCFF enjoyed a series of corner kicks however, they could not find a way past the in-form UDG Tenerife goalkeeper and the match ended 2-1. VCFF fell to their first defeat of the Primera Iberdola season.
