Match Report: VCF sign off their Swiss visit with a win over Sion FC (0-3)
Valencia CF took on Sion FC on Tuesday at 6.45 pm at Tourbillon, Stadium in Switzerland in what was the first meeting between these two sides in 100 years of history where Valencia played in their new away shirt for the first time.
Valencia CF had a great start to the match. Rodrigo Moreno had the first chance in the first minute but he could not push it in after great work down the right. Chances kept on coming as Gabriel Paulista had a forceful shot inside the area.
Valencia CF were dominating and pressing high up the pitch, Rodrigo Moreno hit the bar in the12th minute and a minute later, Valencia CF’s latest signing Maxi Gómez broke the deadlock with an exquisite first touch following a great Villalba ball from the left.
Rodrigo Moreno saw a curling shot go wide over the 30-minute mark after getting on the wrong side of his marker but persistence paid dividends on the stroke of half time when he slid the ball between the keeper’s legs to put Valencia CF two goals to the good just before the break.
Valencia CF had a second-half lineup as the same script followed with Marcelino’s side in attack looking to extend their lead. Kang in had the first chance for Valencia CF with a powerful shot from outside the area.
Moments later, Kang in sent a delightful past into Kevin Gameiro who headed it high on the hour mark. Javi Jiménez completed the scoreline with little under twenty minutes to go after Kevin Gameiro helped it onto Jimenez’s path to head into the back of the net.
