Match Report: VCF Mestalla return to winning ways against La Nucía (1-0)
VCF Mestalla hosted CF Nucía on Saturday 13th of March at the Antonio Puchades at 4 pm kick-off time on Matchday 17 in group III B of Segunda División B.
The game end in a 1-0 win which VCF Mestalla thoroughly-deserved throughout the game generating football and chances but they left it late to claim a 1-0 courtesy of José David.
The away side came out of the block putting pressure on VCF Mestalla high up the pitch and trying to take advantage of their deadball situations whereas VCF were having more of the ball in the middle of the pitch.
The first VCF Mestalla chance fell to Esquerdo who rattled the crossbar following a good combination with Carlos González over the15- minute mark. VCF Mestalla asserted their dominance thanks to further forays forward amidst controversy when Emaná was tripped inside the box or a contentious offside call as Carlos González was through on goal.
The first half finished goalless with nothing to separate the sides at halftime.
VCF Mestalla took the initiative at the start of the second half surging forward at La Nucía brining menace up top.
Carlos Gonzalez beat a cluster of players with a fine solo move but his drive hit the side-netting. Then, Emaná came close to breaking the deadlock with a backheel flick after a José David cross, and Esquerdo nearly got in on the act from a free-kick which was nearly guided into his own net by Neftalí.
Óscar Fernández made a double substitution on the wings brining on Fran Pérez and David Ruíz to put crosses into Emaná and Fran Navarro who had entered the fray earlier on.
Persistence paid dividends late on, through believe and great work down the left wing. Emaná showed great composure in the box rolling it into José David who turned it in for his third goal of the season to secure a much-awaited win.
