Match Report: VCF Mestalla claim valuable draw away at Hércules CF (1-1)

VCF Mestalla visted Hércules CF on Matchday 12 in group III-B of Segunda B which ended in a 1-1 result. The home side opened the scoring in the first half through Moyita, albeit VCF Mestalla did not lose face in the game and equalised through Gozálbez on his return from suspension.  Latest VCF Mestalla addition Fadiga Outtara was handed his debut in the closing minutes.

It was a thrilling game between two sides who looked to dominate posssesion. VCF had significant absentees in the line-up with several first team players in the manner of Koba Leïn or Vicente Esquerdo. Hercules saw a debut in the dugout

The home side tried to dominate on the ball right from the off however VCF will provide the clearest chances in the way way of danger though Emaná who forced a let-off out of the Hércules backline but could quite finish it off and late on, Esquerdo came close to scoring off of an in-swinging corner kick delivery which was scrambled away by Falcón.    

The contest evened out and Hércules broke the deadlock though Moyita on 28 minutes and came close to doubling their lead right before the interval but Unai smartly denied Buenacasa on a one on one situation.

 VCF Mestalla trailed Hércules CF by 1-0 at the break.

VCF Mestalla worked Falcón at the start of the second half from a set-piece drive from Esquerdo that the keeper turned behind for a corner kick and then aforementioned Esquerdo got his shot away from outside the area.   

The game was seemingly languishing due to plenty of substitutions, albeit VCF Mestalla never backed down and persistence paid dividends late on thanks to a Fran Navarro surging run down the flank who picked out Gozálbez at the near post who smartly nodded VCF back level on his return from suspension.

Both sides pushed for the winning goal in the closing stages where brand-new signing was handed his VCF Mestalla debut as the scoreline remained unchanged. Valencia CF Mestalla claimed back-to back draws away from home.

Valencia CF Mestalla will try to return to winning ways on Sunday the 7th of February at 12 pm kick-off time against Orihuela CF at the Antonio Puchades on matchday 13 in group III B of Segunda B.
