The game finished in a 2-1 win for VCF Mestalla through goals from Hugo González and Bashiru .M and they managed to hold out in the closing minutes to maintain their unblemished home record to reclaim the first place.
The b team had a blistering start to the game gunning for the win and maintain their perfect winning streak at home.
The away side put pressure on the ball in the early goings of the game as VCF Mestalla were looking to build out from the back.
Hugo González opened the scoring following a textbook Pedro Alemañ counter-attack that found Alberto Marí and he played Hugo González onside who beat Ferri with his right foot to score the opener and the fourth goal to his tally this season.
The goal galvanised VCF Mestalla who enjoyed a double chance minutes later. First, aforementioned Hugo González was denied a brace after a reaction save from Ferri following a corner kick and then a Rubén Iranzo header that the keeper turned onto the crossbar.
VCF Mestalla dropped back and Atzeneta UE enjoyed their best chance through a Nemesio effort which went off target as the b team kept on bringing menace up top with a fine link-up play between Alberto Marí, Pablo Gozálbez and Adri Gómez which crept past the post.
VCF Mestalla edged Atzeneta UE by 1-0 scoreline at half-time.
The second half followed the same script with VCF Mestalla looking to hit the opposition on the break and from set-pieces.
Miki came close to doubling VCF Mestalla’s lead off a fine Pedro Alemañ free kick delivery, but his effort went off target.
Minutes later, the contest evened out and Angulo reshuffled his pack bringing on Alessandro Burlamaqui to shore up midfield and Bashiru. M and N’Dombasi to keep up the pace down the wings.
They had an instant impact as VCF Mestalla forced Ferri into a save right away following a counter-attack. Then Bashiru .M made no mistake to put VCF Mestalla two goals to the good at the second time of asking latching onto Burlamaqui ball to beat Ferri with ease and composure.
Atzeneta UE pulled a goal back through Ayo in the closing minutes but VCF Mestalla managed to see it out until the final whistle to reclaim the top spot at Atzeneta UE’s expense.
