Match Report: VCF claim UCL place with win over Valladolid (0-2)

Valencia CF visited Real Valladolid at the José de Zorrilla for their final game of the season on Saturday 18th at 4.15 pm on matchday 38 of LaLiga Santander. With Real Valladolid already safe, Marcelino’s side secured Champions League football next season.
Valencia CF had a slow start to the game and having some defending to do in the first minutes of the game. Santi Mina had the first chance a one on one situation after a Daniel Wass cross but Yoel denied him from close range.
Carlos Soler gave Valencia CF the lead over the 30-minute mark as Valencia CF pounced on a Real Valladolid defensive mistake. Rodrigo Moreno pulled it back into Mina who squared into Carlos Soler for him to slot it home inside the left post.
Santi Mina flashed a shot over the bar in the closing minutes of the first half but he was flagged up for offside. The first half finished 1-0 between Real Valladolid and Valencia CF at the José de Zorrilla.
Valencia CF had a better second-half start in possession and seven minutes in Rodrigo Moreno doubled Valencia CF advantage after a great Dani Parejo assist who rolled it into the Hispano-Brazilian for him to tap in and put the fourth place beyond doubt in the 52nd minute of the match.
Marcelino made all three substitutions after Valencia CF’s second goal bringing on Geoffrey Kondogbia for Francis Coquelin, Santi Mina for Kevin Gameiro and Ferran Torres for Rodrigo Moreno.
Kevin Gameiro came close to scoring the third but his shot was clipped behind for a corner kick by Yoel and a minute later, Ferran Torres flashed his shot wide of the post. The game finished 0-2 for Valencia CF who will play Champions League football next season.
Marcelino’s side turn their attention the Copa del Rey final against FCB at the Benito Villamarín on Saturday at 9 pm kick-off time.
