Match Report: Ten-man VCF Mestalla stand firm to remain unbeaten (0-0)
Valencia CF Mestalla were back in action to host Hércules CF on matchday 3 of Segunda B at 12 pm kick-off time at the Antonio Puchades at Ciudad Deportiva VCF, Paterna.
Óscar Fernández introduced some changes to his starting line-up recalling Facundo García and Jesus Vázquez after serving their respective suspensions as well as Pedro Alemañ in midfield.
Valencia CF Mestalla started on the front foot with a dangerous Fran Navarro header which went narrowly off target following a great Hugo González cross from the right wing and minutes later, Falcón managed to turn it behind for a corner kick after a Fran Navarro header following a pin-point Jesús Vázquez cross from the left-hand side.
Hércules CF were restricted to a clear-cut chance on 20 minutes when Appin forced Unai into a magnificent save who tipped it onto the post.
The first half finished locked together at 0-0 with all to do in the second half.
Valencia CF were reduced to ten men when Kevin Sibille was dismissed early in the second half. VCF Mestalla had to play with a man down which the opposition tried to take full advantage however, they could not get past an in-form Unai who pulled off a series of smart saves.
Facundo García tested Falcón with a brilliant effort but Falcón turned behind. VCF Mestalla withstood a late flurry of Hércules attacks to pick up a point and maintain their unbeaten start to the season.
