Match Report: Home loss to RBB (0-2)
Valencia CF welcomed Real Betis Balompié on Saturday the 3rd of October at 9 pm kick-off time (local time) at Mestalla on matchday 5 of LaLiga Santander.
Valencia CF had a positive start in attack looking to venture forward at every opportunity trying to hit Real Betis Balompié on the break and they did on the 10-minute mark following a quick counter-attack which was finished off Gonçalo Guedes but later disallowed for offside against Maxi Gómez.
Daniel Wass worked Joel Robles with a powerful drive right after the disallowed goal but the Real Betis keeper claimed at the second time of asking.
However, former Valencia CF man, Sergio Canales made it 0-1 to Real Betis Balompié against the run of play over the quarter-hour mark of the first half. The opposition grew into the game forcing Jaume Dómenech into a point-blank range save to a Sanabria header halfway through the first half.
Gonçalo Guedes made a great run drifting in off the left-wing and threading the ball into Maxi Goméz but Joel Robles quickly rushed off his line to deny the Uruguayan the equaliser in the closing minutes of the first half.
Valencia CF went 0-1 down at half-time with plenty of work to do in the second.
Valencia CF came out in the second half looking to score with a Javi Gracia making a double change with Kang In and Álex Blanco replacing Jason Remesseiro and Gonçalo Guedes early on in the second half.
Jaume Doménch pulled off a magnificent stop to a dangerous Fekir free-kick to keep the scoreline at 0-1 on the hour mark as Valencia CF could not find a way past Real Betis Balompié in the second half.
Daniel Wass worked Joel Robles following a quick exchange between Maxi and Kang In but the Dane dragged just wide of the post with little over twenty minutes plus stoppage time left to play.
Cristián Tello made it 0-2 in the final quarter-hour of the match and a minute later, an In-form Jaume Doménech keep the scoreline at 0-2 with yet another sensational stop as the game opened up in the closing stages.
The scoreline remained unchanged and it finished 0-2 to Real Betis Balompíé in the first home loss of the season. Valencia CF will make a short trip to visit Villarreal CF on matchday 6 in the regional derby.
