Match Report: Away loss to CD Roda (1-0)

VCF Mestalla visited CD Roda on Saturday, 6th of November at 5 pm kick-off time on Matchday 11 in group VI of Tercera RFEF.  The game ended in a 1-0 away loss to CD Roda which meant that VCF Mestalla unbeaten start to the season comes to an end albeit they remain table toppers of their group.  

Valencia CF came out looking to have a strong and solid performance with their typical possession-based football. Miguel Ángel Angulo’s side brought menace into the opposition box through Hugo González’s set-piece deliveries in the early goings of the game.     

Aforementioned Hugo González enjoyed a forceful attempt following a fine link-up play between Pedro Alemañ and Fran Pérez, VCF Mestalla’s main attacking outlet down the right-wing.  

Minutes later, Fran delivered another dangerous cross into Diego López who could not quite get on the end of it.  

The opposition rattled the crossbar through Marco Farisato which buoyed the home side who enjoyed another chance through Meseguer which went off target.  

 The first half finished goalless at the break. 

VCF Mestalla came out in the second half looking to dominate possession having further presence in the opposition’s half of the pitch both from set plays as well as link-up play.    

David Ruiz follow-up effort forced Rives into a save after Pedro Alemañ’s free-kick delivery from the edge of the area. 

Miguel Ángel Angulo brought on Javi Guerra looking to shore up midfield deep into the second half.  

VCF Mestalla started to control the game which led to VCF Mestalla’s guilt-edged chance. Fran Pérez one on one situation with the keeper following a fine Pedro Alemañ move which was turned behind for a corner kick by Rives.   

VCF Mestalla kept on pushing for the winning goal so much so that Miguel Ángel Angulo made two attacking changes for the remaining minutes introducing  Bashiru .M and  N’Dombasi. 

Alas, it was the home side who found the net against the run of play through Guinot following a free-kick delivery on 87 minutes.  

Valencia CF remain table-toppers with two games in hand.
