Guedes: "It was a good goal, but the main thing is the team"
Gonçalo Guedes added another amazing goal to his highlight reel with a strike from outside the box against Villarreal, but it was not enough to give the team victory.
The attacker spoke after the final whistle and explained that, whilst he was pleased to return to scoring ways, he was disappointed that it was not accompanied by points.
"Compared with the previous game we were a lot better. We were competitive right to the end. I think that we were the better side at times, but that's football and I don't think that we deserved to lose. We have to keep working in the same way, because we did a lot of things well. We have to minimise the mistakes and try to turn things around, so that we can win as soon as possible. I think that the work we've been doing deserves that," he told VCF Media.
As for his super-strike, the Portuguese was philosophical, saying that "It was a very good goal for me, but the main thing is the team. The objective is to take the three points, and we didn't do that. I'm sad about that, and we have to focus on the next match and try to score -but with the team winning as well."
Guedes now has 17 goals and 17 assists for Valencia CF.
