The team made the final for the third year in a row
What a better way to close out the season than by winning a tournament. Various different sides from the Valencia Discovery Progam of Seattle took part in the Washington Cup, a prestigious state tournament of US Club Soccer located in the capital of the US.
Four Eagleclaw FC sides which the VCF Academy is a technical partner of took part in the Washington Cup from the 9th of April until the 11th of April a tournament that hosted sides ranging from under 10’s up to under 19’s sides two of the four sides ran out champions and will take part in the National Cup Northwest Regional alongside other state champions like Oregon, Alaska or Idaho.
Eagleclaw FC’s M03 VDP won the trophy in extra time against Issaquah Gunners M03. The team led by Mathew Olson clinched the trophy through a Kent Renda golden goal after having a great tournament which was capped off by keeping a clean sheet in all three games which showed their defensive prowess and from their goalkeepers.
Eagleclaw FC M4/05 VDP also ran out trophy winners from their category after edging out NorTacSpartaM04 by a 2-1 scoreline and claiming a full set of victories throughout the tournament which led Amadou Sanyang’s side to winning the tournament.
Two further sides had a great run in the tournament Eagleclaw FC M06 VDP, led by Joe Campos, reached the final after having gone through to the quarter-finals and the semi-finals where they went down to ten men to reach the final with a stunning 6-3 alas, they lost in the final by a 1-3 scoreline to Issaquah Gunners M06.
