Gómez: “The team did a great job and we go home happy”
Maxi Gómez continued a scoring streak in the away game against Real Sociedad, meeting a cross by José Luis Gayà with his thigh to give Valencia CF their only goal of the match.
The striker has scored against Levante UD, Celta Vigo and now Real Sociedad since the season got underway, making it 3 goals from the opening 4 games of the campaign.
We are very happy about the job that we did today. The entire team did a great job and we go home pleased with the three points,” he said after the final whistle.
“Our plan was to regain the intensity that we lacked against SD Huesca. We started very well, were very strong and took the win, so we’re happy.”
“We know the quality that Real Sociedad have: From the midfield to the attack they are fantastic, and their defence is as well, but we did an outstanding job defensively,” he continued.
“When it came to attacking, we are very grateful to have José Luis Gayà on our team, who never stops running and is always putting balls into the box. I was able to score off his cross.”
