Maxi Gómez used the international break to continue his goalscoring form, this time representing his country. The striker found the net in Uruguay's match against Chile, handing them their first victory of the 2022 World Cup qualifying stage.

A preseason friendly this summer saw the Uruguayan score a brace against Villarreal CF, standing him in good stead for Sunday's 4pm CEST kickoff.
He has a previous scoring record against 'The Yellow Submarine' as well: In three of the last four games he has played against them, he has played a part in goals: In 2018/29 he was on the mark both home and away, as well as providing an assist in Valencia CF's 2-1 win at Mestalla last November.
