Gómez: "A number 9 always wants to score goals"
Maxi Gómez was on the scoresheet for Valencia CF against former club Celta Vigo, with the winning goal in a 1-2 triumph at Balaidos.
The win
It was a very difficult game, against a side who play very good football. They have some great players. I'm very happy with the three points, as we had been struggling a little bit to win games away from home. I'm happy, because the team fought hard, worked hard and showed humility. These three points were fundamental.
An away victory
We had deserved to take three points on the road. We maybe hadn't been doing the job that we needed to do away from home. Today we saw that Valencia CF want to do our best, and can do that. I'm very grateful to my teammates for all the work that they put in.
A goal against a former club
I didn't want to score goals today, because I was playing against a club who gave me everything. I'm very grateful to them, but I'm very happy because a number 9 always wants to score. Sometimes you get them, and sometimes you don't get what you want, but there is always commitment and fight. I'm very happy about the goal, and for having helped the team -which was fundamental.
