Gayà: “If we want to win at the Camp Nou then we have to run much more than Barça”
Captain José Luis Gayà will be back in action this Sunday at the Camp Nou, and ahead of Sunday's game against FC Barcelona, the fullback sat down with VCF Media to analyse the encounter.
The game against FC Barcelona
If we are going to expect Barça to come out unmotivated, and for us not to need to do anything, then it would be a mistake. That's when things don't go well. The most important game is always the next one, and they are going to come out as if the LaLiga title were at stake. They aren't in a very high position in the table, and they can't drop points. We have to face the game with that feeling.
We know that it's going to be difficult, because they are a team who like to have the ball. They have players who win the ball high up the pitch, fast players who can hit you on the counter... What we have to do is stick together and press them. That's going to be the key: Unity on the pitch. That is going to make us better, and if we want to win at the Camp Nou then we have to run much more than them.
Previous encounters
They are very good games for spectators as well. There are usually plenty of goals and we know each other well. They are good games for the players, because we leave it all on the line, just like we have to do in every game. I'm sure that Sunday's game is not going to be a letdown.
Last season we were able to get a point and had a great game against Barça. This year, we go there with the confidence that we can have a great game and take the three points.
Returning from injury
I'm eager to come back from my injury and to have a great game. We're not only motivated to win, but also to have a good game and continue with the good feeling that we had against Cadiz, which was good even though we didn't win. We dominated that game. We're going to go to the Camp Nou to win.
I'm coming back after a few weeks in which I haven't been able to play. I have a lot of desire.
It would be special, after a few games without a win, to go to the Camp Nou and take an incredible win. We're going to go at them, with no fear, and try to win. That's the mentality that we have to transmit to everybody.
