Gayà and Guillamón return for Thursday training

Training on Thursday had a muted atmosphere, as the squad mourned the loss of legendary Valencia CF kitman Españeta. A minute's silence wa held in his honour before the session began.

When the workout got underway, coach Javi Gracia ran his team through a series of preparations for Sunday's regional derby against Villarreal CF. Available to him were Hugo Guillamón and José Luis Gayá, who had represented Spain at Under-21s and senior level during the round of international fixtures.

Maxi Gómez undertook specific gym work having arrived back in Valencia following two 2022 World Cup qualifying games for Uruguay in Montevideo and Quito.

Daniel Wass returned to Paterna shortly after his 11am landing in Spain. He had been away on international duty with Denmark to play games against Iceland and England.

Jasper Cillessen and Denis Cheryshev will rejoin the group on Friday.
