Jaume Domènech: "I will always be a proud Valencianista"
The goalkeeper from Almenara bids farewell to Valencia CF after 12 years at the Club
Almost three years ago to the day, on February 10th, 2016, Carlos Soler and Toni Lato enjoyed an unforgettable day at Celtic Park.
They took to the pitch at the legendary stadium, where Valencia CF play Celtic this week in the UEFA Europa League, to represent the Juvenil A side in the UEFA Youth League. It was the second leg of the Last 16 stage, and provided plenty of drama.
Aitchison put Celtic ahead, but with just three minutes remaining, Isma Martínez found an equaliser. The contest would come down to a penalty shootout, and Lato and Soler were chosen to take spot kicks. Lato converted Valencia CF's final shot, before Antonio Sivera saved the home side's last penalty.
Now with the first team, they will return to Celtic Park on Wednesday for a training session the day before the vital first leg, and are keen to see the ground again.
"Celtic bring back good memories for us, so I hope that we come back to Valencia with smiles on our faces like we did that day," said Lato before the team fly to Scotland.
