Meet some of the Valencia CF players who have competed in the U-21 European Championship with Spain
Juan Mata and César Tárrega, the most recent scorers in this prestigious international tournament
Ferran Torres' strike in the final moments of the game against Girona earned Valencia CF the victory away from home, as the young talent was played as a no.9 following the sending off of Facundo Roncaglia.
The homegrown player, who started the game on the right wing, has now found the net three times this term: Against Celta Vigo in LaLiga, Sporting Gijon in the Copa del Rey, and now against Girona.
"I'm never going to forget any goal that I score for this club. All my effort has had its reward," he commented after the game.
"In a situation like we had, you find strength from where it seems that there is nothing left. I knew that I had to score in order to give us the three points; at first I doubted whether I would get to the ball before the goalkeeper, but once I reached it I didn't think twice, tapping it around him and scoring into an empty net."
"Every player is bringing something to the table. When you are a club competing in three competitions, it's important. It's what allows us to continue fighting for the Champions League spots."
