Match Report: VCF MESTALLA snatch late win against Nffc FC B (0-1)
oselu's last-gasp goal earned VCF Mestalla the win on Matchday 2 of the Premier League International Cup
VCF Mestalla claimed the three points this Saturday against CF La Nucía in a hard-fought victory, scoring in the final minutes through a José David goal. Coach Óscar Fernández, highlighted the great work by the team after the match.
A very important victory
"I'm happy for the dressing room and for the coaching staff. We spent many hours working hard and we did not deserve what was happening to us before. Behind that team there are 22 kids who work hard, there is a coaching staff that give everything, there are many people who work from Monday to Saturday and give everything.
"I am the visible face and the one responsible for everything bad that happened to the team, but there is a human group behind me that works hard. Obviously this is all about winning, because it is a competition, but I take away the process, how the players have improved, how they have evolved, how they work and how they stand up for the club. The results are my fault, but that the work that those kids and that coaching staff do is valued. We only take away 3 points today, but it removes the pressure of seeing that we weren't winning."
The boost from the win
"The team needed to remove the tension that comes with playing well but not winning. We didn't give La Nucía a chance to score, and they are a team that generate a lot. We did what we do every Sunday. You have to live in the present and enjoy today. We have 15 points and now go to Alcoy to get a victory. We will continue working, helping the kids to grow, which is our goal."
Team spirit
"When you do so many things and the victories don't come, fears arise. In the learning process there are mistakes and a fear of competing. It is difficult because we had gone so long without winning, but with each hit the team receive, they get back up."
A victory with a very special dedication
"This one was for Reina -the VCF Radio technician who died this week. For all of you who have come here and enjoyed yourselves, both Reina and my uncle, Luis, who also died this week, helped us out.
We had a 13-man team today. This one is dedicated to them. They helped us. A lot of people come here every weekend and enjoy yourselves or suffer, but there are people who are here every day with their families and with the club. It's for those two. They gave us a great help today. They were pushing us on, and they were with us on the last move of the match, defending."
