Corberán: "We're eager to compete at our best"
Press conference ahead of the game against FC Barcelona
In accordance with his wishes, the ashes of Bernardo España, AKA 'Españeta,’ will be scattered at Mestalla, the home of Valencia CF and the place where the former kitman enjoyed some of his happiest times. The club and Españeta's family will organise the gesture, along with several other tributes, over the coming days.
Valencia CF representatives Anil Murthy, Ricardo Arias, Miguel Tendillo and Miguel Ángel Bossio attended the mortuary on Wednesday afternoon to offer their condolences in person on behalf of the club.
On Thursday, both the men and women's first teams will hold a minute's silence before their respective training sessions. At Valencia CF's next home game at Mestalla, against Getafe CF, a further minute's silence will be held, whilst in the away game against Villarreal this weekend the team will wear black armbands.
The club will announce a permanent tribute to Españeta, one of their most beloved figures, in due course.
