Diego López: “Coming back from injury and being able to help the team out with goals makes me really happy"
The resounding home win over UD Benigànim brought about further positive news which was the return from injury of players like Diego López, Alessandro Burlamaqui and David Ruiz. The Asturian forward marked his return with a brace after nearly two months on the sidelines.

“I’m really happy because I’ve been out for almost two months, a month and a half more or less. I’m not used to being out of action for so long and that makes you overthink, but making a goalscoring comeback and being able to help the team out makes me really happy. I felt really well, the ankle responded to perfection.

The injury was a pity because it happened at the start of the competition after having undertook the preseason with the first team, it was unexpected news for me and I tried to make the most of the opportunity. Now I’ll continue working hard at VCF Mestalla which is what I’ve been doing this whole time.
We knew it was going to be a tough game where the opposition were going to try to dictate play and it’s been like that until we were able to score and once we broke the deadlock we grew into the game.
We’re a well-drilled side fitness wise and we’re used to playing on large dimension football pitches, setting a high tempo on the ball moving the ball sideways to open up the opposition.
In this team the forwards are the first defenders and the defenders are the first forwards. We have to be a team who play as a unit, a steamroller restricting the opposition to barely cause any thread and attacking relentlessly. That’s what the coach wants from us being a unit in attack, in defence and in everything we do".
