Cheryshev: "What we should take away from today is our reaction"
Denis Cheryshev put a positive spin on the 2-4 win over Terrassa in the Copa del Rey, in which Valencia CF required extra time to put away their lower division opponents. After the game, the Russian international talked to VCF Media.
"We suffered a lot against a good side who gave us a tough game. I don't think that we were fully switched on; in the first half we weren't too bad, but then they scored and that created some doubts. I think that we generated some clear chances in the final 10-15 minutes that we weren't able to convert," said Cheryshev.
"In the second half, that goal that they scored from a free kick -and Guillem's sending off- affected the game. What we should take away from today is our reaction, as we kept on pushing and believed until the end. We got the win, which is very important for us because every game is like a final. We have to continue with this improvement."
Up next is a LaLiga game against FC Barcelona, and the attacker wants a battling performance from the team in that one.
"Every game is like a final for us. We have to get our claws out against FC Barcelona, which we've already done against big sides this season. I think that, playing our football and following what should be a consistent improvement, we will try to get better every day and take the win in every game."
