Cheryshev: "This wasn't the Valencia CF we've seen throughout the season so far"

"Now we need to draw conclusions," says the Russian midfielder

Denis Cheryshev spoke to Movistar+ Liga de Campeones after the Supercopa defeat to Real Madrid, and was honest in his assessment of the performance in Saudi Arabia.

"We weren't up to standard in the game today. We didn't play well and we weren't comfortable," he commented. "This wasn't the Valencia CF that we've seen throughout the season so far. Now we need to draw conclusions as quickly as possible and keep going; there is a long way to go."

Talking about Real Madrid's superior possession, Cheryshev said that "We knew that Real Madrid were a side with plenty of gears. We went out there to play our own game, but unfortunately it didn't work out for us. We didn't perform well, and that's a pity."

"The first goal was a lapse in concentration from everybody, and mentally that goal has an effect on you. We didn't feel comfortable and maybe from there everything became an uphill struggle for us."
