Celades: "We aren't having any luck with VAR"

The VCF coach lamented two VAR decisions that went against his side in their cup game against Granada

Valencia CF coach Albert Celades spoke after his team's Copa del Rey elimination at the hands of Granada in his `post-match press conference, and lamented a controversial late penalty that proved to be decisive in the contest.

The result
"We aren't having any luck with VAR. So far this season, all of the decisions have gone against us. We are very respectful of referees, as it's a difficult job that they do, but I don't know if you can talk about luck or whatever. Every interpretable action is going against Valencia CF. What can we do? Nothing. I hope that we don't have to complain so that they treat us in a different way."

An open game

"It was a very open game, with a very quick goal against us. We equalised, then we had another ruled out by VAR. I think that we had a good first half. The second half was calmer and, in the end, everything was decided by a moment that involved VAR. We would have liked to have given them fewer chances and to not have conceded that goal. We lacked more effective finishing, but I think that we could have gone into halftime in the lead."

No late changes

"We were deciding whether to make any change at the end. Coquelin can't play on Saturday and neither can Wass, so that's why they played the entire game. It's easy to say in hindsight that we should have made a change earlier."
