Atalanta named as Trofeu Taronja opponents

The Trofeu Taronja celebrates its 50th edition in 2022, and for this very special occasion, Valencia CF's opponents will be one of the top Italian teams in recent seasons: Atalanta BC.

The match against the Serie A side will take place on August 6th at 9:00p.m. and will be the only preseason fixture for the 2022/23 season that Valencia CF will play at Mestalla, as well as being the last game before the start of the LaLiga campaign.

Atalanta have finished in the top half of the Serie A table every season since 2017, and have become accustomed to playing in European competitions, with their participation in the last three consecutive editions of the UEFA Champions League of particular note. It was in that European tournament that the last match between the teams took place, in March 2020.

This will not be the first time that Valencia CF and Atalanta BC have faced each other in the Trofeu Taronja, having done so in the 46th edition, held in 2017,  won 1-2 by the team from Bergamo.
