15 years since Arizmendi's goal to remember
Valencia CF's games against Real Madrid are historic matches that always provide memorable moments. One of those was Javier Arizmendi's goal in the victory at the Santiago Bernabéu in the 2007/08 season.
The game took place on March 23rd, 2008, and was the 29th LaLiga fixture of the season. Valencia CF went ahead through David Villa, before two goals from Real Madrid's Raúl and a Villa penalty to take the score to 2-2.
In the 89th minute of the game, Hedwiges Maduro intercepted a ball in the centre of the midfield, passing to Miguel Brito. Arizmendi found space in the opposition's defence and the ball came to him, where he controlled, entered the area, dribbled past Fabio Cannavaro and slid the ball past goalkeeper Iker Casillas.
The strike made it 3-2 and gave Valencia CF the win. Some 5714 days on, the latest generation of players will look for the 3 points at the Bernabéu.
